what do you know about 1996

Hi everybody, I would like to know if there was a special event in 1996, as I have come across a men`s tie commissioned by Ford Mustang and on the front of it it has Simon as a signiture, can anyone tell me if it was for a special occassion I thought you would be the best people to tell me many thanks look forward to hearing from you.
