I have some rod bearing noice in my Mustang. Do you have to jack up the engine to get the oil pan off? I'm having trouble.

most likely since there is a cross member there. althigh i'm not sure if the v6 has a single or double sump pan. just do yourself a favor and change your oil pump at the same time, just a little added insurance.
