2018 EcoBoost Pony Package Announced
DEARBORN, Mich., July 10, 2017 – The pony is going back into the corral. An available Pony Package for the 2018 Mustang – offered with EcoBoost®-equipped cars – gives a nod to the nameplate heritage with its grille-mounted pony-in-corral badge design.
Ford Mustang: The Most Sold Sports Car in The World for 2016
Ford Mustang has been the best-selling sports car in the United States over the last 50 years, and now, thanks to growth in international markets, the iconic pony car is the most popular sports car in the world, according to Ford analysis of IHS Markit new vehicle registration data in the sports car segment.
Mustang expanded its sales lead in 2016 as the world’s best-selling sports car with more than 150,000 Mustangs sold, according to IHS Markit new vehicle registration data. Overall global sales increased 6 percent over 2015, fueled by international market growth up 101 percent with almost 45,000 Mustang vehicles sold outside the United States.
Shelby GT350 to Remain Thru 2018 Model Year
Ford Motor Company announced that the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R Mustang will continue for 2018, available in showrooms this fall. The new models will be unchanged from the 2017 versions, with the exception of three new exterior color choices, Orange Fury, Kona Blue and Lead Foot Gray.
Standard equipment carrying over to the 2018 Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang includes the 5.2-liter V8 FPC engine which produces 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as engine oil, transmission and differential coolers to keep the car properly cooled while on the track. In addition, a no-compromise braking system with vented 15.5-inch two-piece front rotors and six-piston Brembo® calipers along with the MagneRide™ damping system round out the standard equipment to produce the most balanced Mustang ever.
An available Electronics Package for both models includes SYNC® 3, voice-activated navigation and nine-speaker audio system. An available Convenience Package for GT350 models replaces Recaro® manual seats with six-way power, heated and cooled sport seats with Miko® suede inserts for both driver and passenger.
2018 Mustang Convertible Debuts
Today, covers come off the new Ford Mustang convertible – America’s best-selling sports car – as it kicks off a tour of more than 50 regional auto shows across the country before going on sale in North America this fall.

2018 Ford Mustang Revealed
LOS ANGELES, Calif., Jan. 17, 2017 – Today, Ford partnered with its ambassador of Service, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, to introduce the new Mustang – the world’s best-selling sports coupe and the company’s most advanced Mustang ever.
A host of improvements including new technology and design changes give owners ways to customize Mustang to their preferences, even better performance from more powerful engines and new MagneRide™ suspension technology. Customers have more ways than ever to personalize Mustang to make it their own, with three new paint colors, 12 distinct wheel choices and a customizable digital instrument cluster.
“The new Mustang is our best ever, based on more than 50 years as one of the iconic sports car in America and now, the world,” said Joe Hinrichs, president of The Americas. “Tapping Mustang’s enormous fan base, we’re bringing the new Mustang straight to the people – and introducing the new car across multiple social media channels, reaching millions.”
Ford tapped Johnson to reveal the new Mustang to the world by giving one of the first models available to a deserving member of the military. A video of the debut was launched on Johnson’s social channels, including Youtube, Instagram and Facebook, where Mustang holds the title for the most-popular car with more than 8.4 million ‘likes.’
