Mustang Racing and Winning Around the World
DEARBORN, Mich., July 19 - Victory lane has become a familiar place for Mustang racing teams this season as the American muscle car continues to show both its power and performance on the track with wins in both the Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series and GT4 European Cup competition.
The Mustang FR500C has captured five wins and two pole positions in the first eight races of the Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series. Ford Shelby GT Drops Its Top For 2008 Model Year
DEARBORN, Mich., June 13, 2007 - The magic duo of Ford Mustang and Carroll Shelby bring open-air excitement to the road for the 2008 model year as the Ford Shelby GT returns with a new convertible body style and a new standard color combination. Like all Shelby Mustang models, production will be limited to assure exclusivity for collectors. The 2008 Shelby GT will be available in coupe and convertible from select Ford dealers beginning in August 2007.
The 2008 Ford Shelby GT convertible will be formally introduced to Shelby and Ford enthusiasts at the Mid-America Ford Performance and Shelby Meet, which opens today in Tulsa, Okla.
The Shelby Super Snake Is Out of The Bag
It has certainly been a year for special edition Ford Mustangs. We've seen everything from the California Special, the Parnelli-Jones Saleen, the Shelby GT500, upcoming GT500 KR, and the Shelby GT just to name a few. However, a press release was issued today that will trump anything that has been seen to date. Not surprisingly, it comes from Shelby.
The Shelby GT500 Super Snake has many great features, however, the one that stands out the most is the 725 horsepower supercharged monster of an engine. It also features a cold air intake, Baer brakes, a Shelby short shifter, and a Borla cat back exhaust system. However, the factory warranty will not remain intact with the 725 hp package. We know, big surprise. However, we guarantee you will be the owner of one of the most incredible Shelby Mustangs ever produced.
Saleen Empire Crumbling?
Monday's announcement of the retirement of Steve Saleen, founder and vice chairman of the board at Saleen Inc. should have come as no surprise to anyone that even vaguely keeps track of the industry's movements.
Troubles became evident as early as last November at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Attendees that had previously booked appointments at the Saleen booth were unable to locate the booth and, upon inquiry, found that there was no Saleen booth in the show register.
Delays in launching the Parnelli Jones special edition Saleen Mustang had caused some people to scratch their heads, but were not enough to suggest any preciptious problems. More recent actions by Hancock Park Associates, a private equity investment firm founded in 1986, which now owns Saleen, Inc. were quietly reported to have reduced Saleen's staff burden by forty people several months ago.
