Ford Shelby GT to Compete in Sports Car Club of America

DEARBORN, Mich., February 12, 2007 - The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has homologated the new 2007 Ford Shelby GT for competition in its T2 class. Owners of 2005-2007 model year Mustangs also scored big with the SCCA and will be allowed to compete using Ford Racing Performance Packs in the T2 class.

"Mustang has a long winning tradition in road racing, and Ford Racing plans to build on that heritage," said Jamie Allison, Ford Racing Performance Group Manager. "The Ford Shelby GT, along with FRPP-modified Mustangs, can now continue the Mustang racing legacy, started by Carroll Shelby, that has its roots in SCCA competition."

2008 Mustang Bullitt artist rendering So you're wanting a little more horsepower than the stock Ford Mustang GT, but cant stand to pay the price for the Shelby GT500, what is a Mustang enthusiast like yourself to do? Enter Ford with its brand new Bullitt edition Mustang. It's been rumored since the introduction of the S197 body style, but we haven't seen any really solid information until now, and the information sounds great!

The latest morsel of information comes from the engine bay. Sources inside Ford say that they are developing a 4.6 liter engine with 400 normally aspirated horsepower. It features Ford GT supercar heads, and aluminum block to save weight, and special intake and exhaust manifolds to reach the engines full potential.

Shelby GT-H "Rent-a Racer" Car enthusiasts and collectors will now get the chance to own a piece of automotive history as the first of 500 2006 Shelby GT-H Mustangs leave The Hertz Fun Collection and head to auction.

In launching the GT-H last spring, Ford Motor Company, Shelby and Hertz celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Hertz's original "Rent-A-Racer" program and the 1966 Shelby GT350H by teaming up to create another one-of-a-kind Mustang.

Shelby GT Makes Big Splash At Barrett-Jackson Auction

DEARBORN, Jan. 22, 2007 (FCN) -- Two Ford-powered and Carroll Shelby-built vehicles made history last weekend at the 36th annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The new 2007 Shelby GT Mustang serial No. 1 and the only 1966 427 Cobra Super Snake made bidder's history in front of an estimated 25,000 spectators and more than 1 million viewers live on Speed Channel.

With Mark Fields, Ford president, The Americas, officiating the auction, collector Ron Pratt of Chandler, Ariz., got his hands on the first 2007 Shelby GT Mustang with a winning bid of $600,000. Proceeds from the event were put towards the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation, which was created in 1991 to help provide financial assistance to children in need of organ and tissue transplants. Over the last three auction events, Ford Motor Company has raised over $1.7 million for this foundation.
