Shelby GT500KR News Update - 540 Horsepower
Dearborn, Mich. --
Automotive legend Carroll Shelby visited Ford World Headquarters on Tuesday, September 14th, and received a full report and briefing on the Shelby GT500KR project. He also received a seat-of-the-pants update in a development test mule at Ford's Dearborn Development Center.
Shelby GT500KR suspension, tire and vehicle tuning will continue through the fall, with production expected in the spring.
The supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine is expected to deliver 540* bhp, making the Shelby GT500KR the fastest production Mustang ever built.
Pricing of the new, limited-edition KR, which was unveiled this past spring at the New York International Auto Show, has not yet been confirmed.
*Ford originally reported the horsepower rating as 550HP, which according to Ford Motor Company and Shelby, was printed in error. The official horsepower for the 2008 GT500KR stands at 540.Comments
