Shelby Builds Special Grabber Orange GTs
A special run of 200 Shelby GTs, in Grabber Orange livery, has been built for Southern California dealers, according to John Walker, Director of Sales, at Shelby Automobiles.
Ford Motor Company previously announced that all 2008 Shelby GT models would be available only in Vista Blue, with Silver stripes.
It is unclear at the moment whether this run of 200 cars is part of the expected production limit of 2300 vehicles, or in addition to what Ford previously indicated for the 2008 model.
The Shelby GT Mustang model was introduced in 2007 as a retail version of the Shelby/Hertz-branded GT-H rental cars.
An original run of 500 GT-H coupes was purchased, in a move that created a stunning amount of publicity for the rental car company. A second batch of GT-H Mustangs was announced earlier this year - this time convertibles - at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Miami Beach.
Shelby GT models begin life as a specially-equipped Mustang GT assembled at the AutoAlliance International assembly plant in Flat Rock, MI. The cars are then shipped to the Shelby Automobiles facility in Las Vegas for transformation before delivery to Ford dealerships.
