The first production 2010 ROUSH Mustangs have begun to roll off the line in Livonia, MI. The new generation ROUSH Mustang was revealed in March and made its first public appearance at the Mustang 45th Anniversary Celebration in Birmingham, AL last month.

The first production ROUSH Mustang is a Grabber Blue 427R coupe which carried serial number 10-001. It was built for Lance Cunningham Ford in Knoxville, TN. So of you want that car, you have better get on the phone if it has not been sold already.

The second ROUSH 2010 Mustang is a Torch Red Stage 1 convertible, serial number 10-002. This car pictured here made its appearance at the MCA Mustang bash in Birmingham. After the show it went home to Town & Country Ford in Bessemer, AL. The other car on display at the show was a Black 2010 ROUSH 427R coupe, serial number 10-003. This car also heads to Town & Country Ford.

“This is a day we have been looking forward to for the past several months, and it really is a great feeling to see that very first 2010 ROUSH Mustang roll off the line,” said Joe Thompson, vice-president and general manager of ROUSH Performance. “All the planning, meetings, and work that has gone into this vehicle is now being paid back and I am excited to finally get our customers behind the wheel. There is no doubt that this 2010 ROUSH Mustang will exceed expectations and is an excellent evolution in terms of performance and styling.”

Early orders for the ROUSH 2010 Mustangs have been strong, with the first two months of production sold to the ROUSH dealer base. Because of this initial enthusiasm for the ROUSH Mustang, Ford has increased the number of Mustangs allocated to ROUSH. In economic times like these, this is a significant achievement.

According to Jack Roush, there is a reason that this new car has already experienced this success in the marketplace.

“We are really proud of our engineering disciplines and were able to showcase our strengths during the development of this new vehicle. But more than just horsepower, the ROUSH Mustangs have an extremely sophisticated suspension system that offers not only a smooth ride on the road, but more than 1G on the skid pad which proves that this car handles better than many of the exotic European sports cars,” said the motorsports legend, adding that the ROUSH 2010 Mustang also has a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

The cars themselves got plenty of attention at the Mustang 45th Anniversary Celebration. It enabled Mustang fans to see the cars up close, and take in the small details that the initial photos from ROUSH did not show. Lots of traditional ROUSH touches make the cars unique. While the overall design is subject to taste, we really like the little things like the ROUSH logo shift knob, integrated boost gauge, and those big 20” wheels.

One car on display showed off a prototype hood that ROUSH is considering for production. Because the hood is carbon fiber, the costs are said to be high. None the less, ROUSH wants to hear what people think about the design and determine whether it will become part of the product offerings in the future.

With production now underway, the ROUSH 2010 Mustang will soon be showing up on dealer lots and in garages across the country.

Great article. I see the stage 1 in the foreground. Was the 427 R with heat extractors a prototype? what was the red car in the middle? product display?
