2008 Mustang Bullitt Update
So you're wanting a little more horsepower than the stock Ford Mustang GT, but cant stand to pay the price for the Shelby GT500, what is a Mustang enthusiast like yourself to do? Enter Ford with its brand new Bullitt edition Mustang. It's been rumored since the introduction of the S197 body style, but we haven't seen any really solid information until now, and the information sounds great!
The latest morsel of information comes from the engine bay. Sources inside Ford say that they are developing a 4.6 liter engine with 400 normally aspirated horsepower. It features Ford GT supercar heads, and aluminum block to save weight, and special intake and exhaust manifolds to reach the engines full potential.
It is also rumored that the car will feature many road race features, such as upgraded suspension parts from FRPP and a full road race brake package. The drivetrain will consist of a six speed transmission, aimed at keeping the car in the powerband around the track. It will certainly compete with the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro if the Trans Am series does in fact get started up again.
Ford is making good on its promise to continue releasing new Mustang models each year, and it is not just throwing together tacky cars to please the public. The cars in development have great potential, show thought, and give hope to the enthusiast looking for that weekend race car that comes from the showroom. Things are looking up at Ford, with rumors of a Mach 1, a Boss 302, and now more information on the Bullitt, the next few years of Mustangs are sure to be exciting.

They're coming in early 2008, but they will only have 315 horsepower. If you want more you're going to have to upgrade it yourself.
