Shelby GT500KR Test Mule with Carol Shelby Dearborn, Mich. --
Automotive legend Carroll Shelby visited Ford World Headquarters on Tuesday, September 14th, and received a full report and briefing on the Shelby GT500KR project. He also received a seat-of-the-pants update in a development test mule at Ford's Dearborn Development Center.

Shelby GT500KR suspension, tire and vehicle tuning will continue through the fall, with production expected in the spring.

The supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine is expected to deliver 540* bhp, making the Shelby GT500KR the fastest production Mustang ever built.

Pricing of the new, limited-edition KR, which was unveiled this past spring at the New York International Auto Show, has not yet been confirmed.

*Ford originally reported the horsepower rating as 550HP, which according to Ford Motor Company and Shelby, was printed in error. The official horsepower for the 2008 GT500KR stands at 540.

No details on the date yet, but it's supposed to be some time in the Spring of 2008.
