Macho Shelby GT500 is most affordable performance coupe
Detroit News has reviewed the 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
There's no doubt that the Shelby GT500, the most powerful factory-built Mustang ever, has a lot of bite. The new rear-wheel-drive coupe, which was developed by Ford's Special Vehicle Team and draws its inspiration from the Shelby GT500 of the late 1960s, is on sale now.
The hyper-aggressive theme runs through the revised cobra logo to the car's 500-horsepower 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine and its over-the-top styling. The car's strutting, macho look includes a gaping grille that is more aptly described as a maw, since it gives the vehicle the appearance of a voracious animal set on swallowing up everything in sight.
